Job titles a work of art

I know that nothing stands still and change is a constant but were the job titles of yesteryear so bad?

Were they really something that, like TB or sending children up chimmneys, had to be driven out by the march of Progress?

A woman appeared in a reality TV programme at the weekend, whose occupation was given as  ‘background artist’.

Have a guess…

Yup. She’s a TV and film extra. She hovers in the background, her only brief to be normal and unremarkable, while the real artists in the foreground go about their work.

Background artist.

Give me a break.
