‘TT’ means Terrible Timing as Beeb puts clock before courtesy

It’s not the fact that the BBC had to interrupt the victor’s national anthem at yesterday’s Assen TT Moto Gp race. Schedules are tight, I appreciate.

What grates is the fact that no-one seemed unduly perturbed by the enforced discourtesy. Just the hint of putting themselves out would have been nice; the presenter making the effort to distance himself from the podium, perhaps, or at least offering a cursory apology for the breach of protocol.

Nah. Watch from the 1:28:00 mark here and note the body language as he blithely witters on within spitting distance of the presentation area. If it’s even occurred to him just how rude he and his producer look at this juncture, he hides it very well.

Shame is, his employers used to set the standard in observing niceties like this. Not any more.
