“And how far up our own rear ends do you see us being in 10 years’ time…?”

A friend is ecstatic and rightly so.

Bucking the trend of graduate unemployment with some style, her daughter has secured a position that is hers the moment she graduates this summer.

Amid the congratulations, however, there is one slightly jarring note. She was apparently interviewed by a group of no fewer than five people.

For a teaching job at a primary school.

Interview panel or ego trip?

You decide…

  1. Congratulations on her for securing a position that she can start upon graduation. With regards to the ‘interview panel or ego trip’ question….definitely interview panel. In the long run it would of saved her [your friends daughter] a lot of time as she would of most likely had to meet with each member of the panel. Panel interviews are not easy to arrange or conduct. They are recommended where a number of parts of an organisation are required to work together or where the organisation requires a greater degree of transparency. This type of interview also provides more objective selection decisions being made.
